RE: l/100KM vs MPG

The difficulty in the conversion is MPG is distance per volume and
L/100KM is the inverse volume per distance. You have to do an inverse or
a 1 divided by (blank) to get the answer. My physics teachers alway told
me to lay out and cancel the units:

If your OBC shows 21.3L/100KM then * 1.61 KM/1 mile * .26 gallons/1 liter
gives 8.91618 gallons/100 miles or .0891618 gallons per mile. Your more
interested in miles per gallon, so inverse or flip the fraction to
1/.0891618 = 11.21 miles/gallon thereby confirming your first hypothesis
of leadfoot.

In shorthand Take OBC * 0.004186 and inverse.

Hope it helps,
