I have just recently finished rebuilding/cleaning up the Weber 32/36 DGAV
carb on my 2002, in the hopes of solving a few of the cold start, and
high RPM problems I had. The cold start mechanism now works, but now the
engine will still not idle at certain operating temperatures. I have spent
quite a bit of time messing with the idle mixture, both during cold operation
and during warmed operation, both end seem to work OK. The problem occurs
when the engine is between cold and just barely warm. The engine will not
stay running, unless it is held above 2000 RPM. What could be causing this?
I have some ideas, so I'll present them here in hopes that they may spark
somebodies memory.
Located in the engine compartment are two "magentic
relays" (this is what the emissions vacuum diagram calls them). One operates
off of the a sensor located (I believe) at the drive for the distrubutor.
The diagram claims this sensor to be a speed sensor, and the relay cuts off
fuel flow using vacuum from the intake manifold (how does it do this?).
The second relay uses a temperature sensor somewhere to cut off vacuum to
the distributor advance diaphram. I haven't been able to check how the
car runs when these are bypassed, I'll try that tonight.
Now for a few more questions.
What do these have to do with the emission control?
Where is the speed (RPM) sensor supposed to cut in (off)?
What temperature is the vacuum advance relay supposed to operate?
How do I get my door to latch (the second latch) easily? I always have to
be firm with it.
Thanks in advance for any help.
