1990 535i SPEEDO BLIP FIXED

Hi All --

I'd been having an annoying problem with my '90 535.  When creeping in
traffic the speedo would occasionally blip up to the high peg then back
to normal, setting off my max speed warning in the OBC.  Seemed to
happen more often in the cold.  Most of the time it would only happen
once, but sometimes it would happen every two or three minutes while
creeping, then never happen again for weeks. 

Brought the car into P&W for oil service and mentioned the problem
(mostly to document it before my 75,000 mile extended warranty expired).
 Well, the tech said he remembered a bulletin or something on the speedo
sending unit a few years ago which described the problem.  He couldn't
find it, but replaced the sending unit anyway (under the extended
warranty!) at about $85 parts and labor.   

So far so good. No reoccurance, but it's only been two days...

Hope this helps anyone with similar problems.
