Well, as some of you know, Ann has had a recurring no-start on her
1994 325i during (*it seemed*) cold weather ..
The first solution was a "re-coding" of the DME control unit, which
DID NOTHING to solve OUR problem ..
Then came the recriminations .. "If the recode didn't fix it, YOU must have
broke it with your *tampering*" ... (the tabs on the DME cover were bent ;)
Now, (maybe) comes the solution ... (and yes, they're eating CROW!)
It turns out that FINALLY they got the problem to happen, and traced it to
an intermittent (thermal/mech. failures) relay (fuel pump or main) which
finally DIED for good at the dealer ..
I only note this whole thing, to reiterate that to find a problem ...
FIRST CHECK THE BASICS ...
Then worry about the intricate workings of the FI programming ...
My dealer seemed to forget that
