Greetings,
Perhaps someone on the list could steer me in the right direction.
My car (74 2002) was recently having a problem with the voltage regulator, and
the battery was charging to much. It was getting very hot and smelled like
rotten eggs. I replaced the voltage regulator and the problem seemed to have
been fixed, it even ran smoother. Now, about 2 weeks later, my car doesn't
start. The battery (Interstate) was brand new in August of 93 and I can't find
any paperwork which would indicate that I've replaced the alternator lately,
but it looks fairly new. Dinan Engineering said they would charge me $70.00 to
run some diagnostics on it, then I would have to buy the new parts. My question
is this, is there a reputable shop in the Palo Alto to Sunnyvale area of the
San Francisco bay area that won't squeeze every nickel out of me and give me an
honest diagnosis. I'm not looking for something for nothing, but this is not
best time of the year for additional expenses.
Any suggestions ?
Rick Paulin
