Wheel bearings???

	My '87 325 has developed an intermittent humming sound at speeds over 30 mph, similar to the sound of a shot wheel bearing. My mechanic hasn't been able to find the cause and says the bearings on all wheels are fine. I don't believe it is a transmission problem because it will also do it in neutral. Any net wisdom will be appreciated as this noise is driving me nuts!
