[bmw] Another alarm remote question E34
I have a 1996 E34 with the early Sigma remote.
This is the rectangular one that is used with the
normal keys.
It opens the doors but must be repressed after
activating the ignition to release the imobiliser.
The battery died and BMW say a complete
new unit is required followed by them programing it.
Which is a 2 min. job with the car. Alternativly ican
replace it with the newer type which has the round battery
chamber and replacable batteries I have one of these too that still works.
Both options are expensive at over 50GBP for a spare.
I have replaced the soldered battery in my original unit
but it will now not opperate the car locks or imobiliser
although the LED works etc.
Can I reprogram this revitalised unit the same way as
BMW would with a new unit?
Thanks
