[bmw] Z3 - Trailer Hitch = Pipe Dream?

I'm really interested in getting a Z3, but problem is that would mean I 
would have to get rid of my truck.  Which then means my kayak and canoe 
become _really_ hard to transport.  I barely drive 5000 miles a year so 
keeping both cars is silly.

So, has anyone ever attempted to put a hitch on a Z3?  Or if not, might 
anyone know enough about the rear frame to give some insight if its 
possible?  Given a couple of big bolts and a torch.  I don't need much, 
a trailer like such would suffice:

My other option would be to take the torch to the top of my truck. 
Which doesn't sound nearly as appealing as a Z3.
