[bmw] Considering an M Coupe

Hello all,
I am considering the purchase of an M coupe. Either the S52 or S54
motor. I have heard of some problems with the S54 motor, but it seems
that they are mostly resolved by the recall, and also the 100K warranty
helps as well.
Are there any other endemic problems with these cars? Also, anything
specific to the first year - the 1999? I have a 92 325i, which has some
of the first-year common problems like interior trim bubbling, so I'd
like to avoid that kind of thing if there is anything common there. On
the other hand, the basic mechanicals are the same as the Z3, which was
made for some time before 99, so that ought to help.

It looks like a fun car. I drove a used Z3 coupe, which was pretty fun
even with the low-buck tires that the Buick dealer had installed. The M
coupe looks to be even better.
