That's a very common problem when the E28 gets up in years. You can take it
out and apply WD40 to it which might fix the problem temporarily but you will
probably need a new one.
Make sure you have no cracks in the rubber that connects the big wedge flow
meter to the intake or in the several hoses. Only way to this is to take them
out and flex them, looking for any cracks. Had an E30 that would rev up and
down after every valve adjustment. After two or three days it would disappear.
Cracked hose!
