I saw one at the BMW dealership outside Salt Lake City. It was black (not
blue--after seeing all the promotion materials and photos--I thought blue
was the only color they were making!!) with a 3.0 and a 6 speed. While
shorter than my X-5, it "looks" longer. The hood seems to be longer, and it
is less tall. It seems more like a Touring that has lifted and rounded.
Sitting in the drivers seat, the cockpit definitely feels smaller than an
X-5, but when you turn and look at the rear seats, they seem to have more
legroom than in an X-5. Rear trunk space is much narrower (and it looked
like a little engineering fixed the annoying habit of the tonneau cover not
staying in place ala X-5) but they say with the seats down there is more
usable trunk space. Car and Driver just reviewed it, and really panned it.
I want to see what everyone else says.

I understand these will show up in volume at dealers in Feb-March, but some
dealers are getting advance vehicles to stimulate interest.  I'd keep
looking at your dealers for them to show up.
