Doug,
Had the same problem.
As Bob mentioned check the stops. They are little plastic/rubber covers that
go over the top of the moveable latch on the door. Kind of like a
prophylactic. All mine were missing.
Another thing I found was a broken spring in the door latch. What happened was
the latch would not return to rest and when the door was closed it wouldn't
catch because the spring was not locating the latch correctly for the door to
close and latch. Whew!
Hard to explain.
The spring is inside the door and a little bear to get to. Mine had come out
and was found in the bottom of the door.
