[bmw] Speaking of seats
Hey folks, speaking of seats, the motorized seats in my '85 635csi have some problems. The biggest problem, seems to be that the flexable drive cables are severed on several of the motors. Does anyone know where to get new drive cables? Or where to get them made? Both seats go back and forth, but each seat has a different combination of failed components (though neither seat has a functioning head rest hight adjustment). All of the motors seem to turn, but for several of them (on each seat), their engagement is completely failing. Thoughts?
And on another topic, I noticed yesterday that the (heater/air) blower motor in the dash was making a high pitched squealing sound, and today, it seems to have mostly failed. I say mostly becuase, if I rotate the dail completely clockwise until it hits its limit switch ( I can hear the contact being made) the fan WILL come on full blast. It just no longer comes on at any intermediate speed. Does anyone have any advice on where to start? (I figure I'll start by checking out the fuse box tomorrow, though I find it hard to believe that there would be two seperate fuses for the adjustable low speed vs the high speed, full-on mode).
Thanks in advance for your thoughts!!
And as a final "something to be happy about".. it seems that simply changing the differential fluid in my old '65 BUICK GranSport seems to have quieted the awefull gear crunching noises coming out of the differential! I may not have to get a whole new rear end after all!.. Yipee.. (though I haven't taken it out on the highway yet to really heat it up, so I'm not 100% confident that its fixed, but I am optimistic. If it is fixed, then I'm back out to the dragstrip for some serious acceleration!) (You can see it at: http://www.flash.net/%7Estanbrad/p65gs12.htm. Its not my website though, so I can't claim responsibility for the creative spelling of "prowd owner".)
