Re: [bmw] oil change
Its about money. The free maintenance agreement is going to be nominally by
THEIR book, without consideration for getting 100k or 200k out of the engine.
For my '01 Z3 3 liter, I didnt even bother to ask them. I changed at 4500
miles and 4500 thereafter. And for a first oil change, if I had to redo it,
the change would have been earlier. Anyway, my car, my money spent and I don't
plan on throwing it away, except in used oil. I don't change vehicles often.
Old school.

The dealer where my son bought his car REFUSED to change the oil until the
light bar indicated so. It was about 13,000 miles and about 18 months on
the brand new engine. I hated to see that. I fail to see where there is
any advantage to this. If not the miles, what about 18 months or blowby ,
acid, and other junk that builds up in the oil.
And remember, new BMWs come with all service included but they will not
give
you an extra inch.
