'96 740i has locking wackiness

Hello All,

A buddy has a 1996 740i with very strange lock problems as of last 
night.

One rear door lock is activated properly by the key fob. The drivers 
door can be unlocked manually with the key. But both other doors cannot 
be opened in any way from inside or outside.

I'm intricately familiar with locks on 3-ers, but the 740 has me 
baffled.

Suggestions?
