Alfa Romeo raced through the 1987 season in Formula 1. Coincidently,
1987 was the same year that Fiat purchased Alfa. Alfa Romeo had been
owned for decades by the Italian government. It is difficult to fault
Fiat for not funding two F1 teams.
With a bit of hindsight.... Rather than sell to Fiat, what would have
been the better solution? Goal being for Alfa to have maintained F1
racing, RWD, provide financial stability...
