RE: [alfa] 88 milano lost power now wont start

Bill -

GET A SHOP MANUAL ... (Or read yours if you have one).

There is a detailed diagnosis flow chart for the ignition system for the
MIlano & GTV-6 in there. Most tests can be done with DMM, however a scope is
handy for a few checks and is the only way to test the pickup in the
distributor.

Jeff - feeling kind cantankerous today ...

Subject: [alfa] 88 milano lost power now wont start

my 88 milano 3.0 lost power will driving yesterday.
when I tried to accererate, the car went slower and then quit,
just quit, had to have it towed and now it wont't start.
It has gas and is well maitained despite 180,000 on the clock.
It has never not started in the 12 years I have owned it.
I don't appear to have any spark.
where do i begin to troubleshoot?
bad coil? bad distributer pickup?
