RE: [alfa] re: Visiting Modena
Hi, thought I'd put in my two cents worth. We traveled over Europe in 2000
in our newly picked up BMW. Drove to Modena and visited the Ferrari museum
as well as the shops around town. Stayed in a pension in Corlo, a charming
little hamlet near by. Had a delightful time. We could not get into the
Ferrari factory, as we did not make arrangement earlier. But the museum was
very worthwhile. You go at your own pace. It is hard to travel around in
Italy without a car unless you know some local who can point you to buses,
train etc. Besides automobiles, be sure to savor the local food, wine and
sceneries. Even their grapes tasted so fragrant as they were picked off the
vines, probably that same morning. We loved lunching on local "farmer's
market" fresh produce and cheese.
Bon Voyage.

Well I managed to tour in 2000 without owning a Ferrari or arranging through
a dealer but I was with a small (12) tour group so that might explain it.
Same with the Maserati factory I suppose. Except for the engine assembly
area at the Ferrari factory I thought the factory tours were a bit of a
bore. I think some of the restoration shops or design houses would be more
interesting.

| Sorry to burst your bubble, but in order to tour the Ferrari factory, it
| must be arranged way in advance by your local Ferrari dealer, and I
believe
| you must own a Ferrari in order to do so.
