Karl.
I took some of your advice and have ordered the crank seal and cam seals
with the cam dies.The idler pulley's are new and I have been informed that
the type of tensioner I have (silicon filled?) does not fail. I can tension
the belt by measuring part of the tensioner so I don't need the tensioning
tool. I have been given this information by the best Alfa people in
Australia. I'm just scared of the bill they are going to send me for the
part hahaha. I really like this car but its the second time the cam belt
system has required work in the 12 months I have had it. First an idler
pulley failed (luckily when the car was idling no damage done). And now I
will fix things myself because of a ham handed mechanic. Maybe I should
stuff the engine into my GTV. At least I could get to the cam belt easily.
