[alfa] Speakers and Tires and Bolts, oh my!
So the winter projects have been completed (conveniently the weekend
before my first nasty essay is due) and I have just a few things to say:
1) The iPod is mounted to a customized mount that includes the cig
adapter that powers it. Completely removable, too! It is running data
to a Denon amp, which in turn is running sound to two Boston separates
which will be joined by a Clarion 7" passive radiated subwoofer mounted
under the passenger seat, as well as two Boston 3.5" coaxials in custom
roll bar mounts. Now before anybody complains that this isn't an
audiophile quality home system, I just have this to say: It isn't
designed to be one. If I want to listen to music for the pure pleasure
of listening to music, I'll go into my room and turn on my audiophile
quality home system. If I want to hear music while I'm driving, I don't
really want to carry 200lbs of audio equipment.
Pix will be up on the site soon
2) Thanks to everybody who responded to my earlier posts. The Intestine
is now shod with new rubber throughout the driveshaft, as well as new
Bridgestone Potenza RE950s (195/65-14). I have nothing but praise for
these tires, had them on my Audi as well, and at this size they change
the speedo naught while still gripping like a rabid wildebeest. And of
course being only $60 installed didn't discourage.
3) I think I'm gonna go through my car and just tighten everything I
can find. So far I have lost bolts or screws from: My bumper (all but
one!), my heat shields, my top, my headlights, my intake, my muffler,
and my wheels<!!>. But the best recent one was when she started to
sound like my brother's Volkswagen. We went in to find the leak and 7
of my 8 header nuts were loose. The 8th was just missing.
So thanks to everybody for your information and support. With only two
exceptions, I have had nothing but good experiences on this list
(sorry, coming up on my 1 year anniversary with the baby) and I'm sorry
I can't provide near as much help as I request. Gotta go now, the sun
is shining.
