RE: [alfa] brembo parts
Carson -
The pistons and bores on the brembo calipers are the same size as those on
the ATE calipers.
Technically, the original seals (outers I think, can't quite recall) are
different than those used on the ATE calipers. At one time many years ago,
these seals were available separately from Alfa, but I am sure that they are
long since extinct as many OEM Alfa parts are.
That being said, I have successfully rebuilt many Brembo calipers using
original ATE kits. (I've had trouble with the seals on the aftermarket kits
not fitting properly, so prefer to use the OEM kits.)
You can get both pistons out (almost) using air. I use a large pair of
channel locks to hold one of the pistons (whichever one is the freer of the
two) almost all the way out. Working the pistons this way, you can kind of
manipulate them so that both pistons will come out together. If one comes
out and the other is almost out, you can grab it by the outer step (only)
and pull it out as this is not a machined surface.

Subject: [alfa] brembo parts
What are people doing about rebuilding their brembo calipers on the
milano's? I haven't had so far any luck getting caliper kits for them,
everybody wants me to do exchange calipers. How do most get both piston
out, I'm assuming the air method will leave one behind?
Thanks.
