175 degrees isn't all that hot.   The purpose is to get the grease and oil
warm and loose so it comes off.   The directions for the Gunk cleaner state
exactly as I do.   Never had a problem cleaning engines this way for years.
In fact, I just did it on the Verde 3 days ago.

P.S.  Forgot to mention to cover the distributor before doing this.  The
electrics *can* be problematic doing this.
