You can also reject the insurances "value" if you wish, and request a
comparable value based on similar cars. For that, they usually look in the
local newspaper and see what a car is selling for. In the case of Alfas,
they are usually considered "specialty" cars, so you should be able to look
to sources of these cars. 

Contacting those that bought or sold a car comparable to yours in the last
few months is one way to collect this information. It's a pain, but it may
yield a better value than what the insurance company originally offers.
