[alfa] g-meter

About 15 years ago when vintage racing a 750F and a Lotus 61 Formula Ford I
had a device called a g-Analyst. It consisted of an accelerometer,
control/display unit and software. I bought a wood burning laptop (8088) to
run the system and display results. The 750F had stiffer springs, larger
front anti-roll bar, Konis set full soft and pulled 1.03 lateral g's on a
skidpad using using Goodyear Blue Streak bias ply race tires (Monterey legal
at the time). The g-Analyst was mainly usefull on the Lotus to determine
gearbox ratios and engine tuning.

Otherwise I think a g-Analyst would be good for driver training - it shows
braking points, how much braking is done, acceleration, lateral g's and can
provide hard copy.

Cheers,
