RE: [alfa] shooting brakes

Actually, Shooting Brake is quite different from station wagon or estate.
Both have, and still do, exist at the same time.

A shooting brake is a sports coupe that has been converted to a three door
station wagon, usually by a bespoke coach-builder for a wealthy and usually
landed client, who loved his Aston martin, but, dammit, it just didn't have
the space to throw a couple of guns and the dogs in the back to go hunting.
Astons were particularly popular, in as much as there were enough people who
could afford them in the first place, and could then afford to spend the same
again having them cut and rebuilt. There's a chap in the UK at the moment
who will make you a shooting brake from a Jaguar XJS, that makes for quite a
handsome car.
