[alfa] Paint Jobs

So while we're on the topic, I have been giving a lot of thought to changing
the color of my Berlina, which was painted beige over a legitimate Alfa color
a long time ago. The repaint is holding up great, I have to confess, so it
would just be matter of cleaning up some dings and spraying the new color.
However, I have absolutely no budge to accomplish this.

I've been think about Maaco, the junior college option and all of the other
recent good ideas, but here's my question:

My first choice color was a metallic medium grey; second choice is Alfa red.
Is application of a metallic color much more difficult? With a cheap paint
job, is more likely to be presentable if a solid, non-metallic color?
