[alfa] Saab/BMW/Lancia etc donor parts for 164
Don wrote...
"You might also research whether the pump was used on another car (Saab or
BMW) at the time."
Reading this sentence reminded me of something I think I've suggested
before, but will do so again, since I have a hard time even spelling HTML.
Seeing as how 164's are very scarce in the junkyards, and Fiat discontinues
more parts for the car most every day, we need a simple web page showing
which parts will interchange from other cars. Since development of the 164
was shared with the Saab 9000, as many of us have discovered, there are
several parts that are interchangeable between the two. That would be the
primary focus, but as Don suggested, it is also conceivable that other cars
of the same era may share certain common parts with the 164.
So any volunteers to host this? I'll take a stab at the layout using a
couple actual examples
Part Donor Exact part? Verified
Notes
Pass side motor mount Sb9000 No Yes Very close
to 164 part
A/C Receiver/dryer Sb9000 Yes? No Looks to be
the same
A/C pressure switch Sb9000 No No Quick
Connector different
LSD (Differential) Thema No No
Should work
It would be nice to have an additional space for the "notes" column and/or
an additional column with the name/e-mail of the person who submitted the
info.
Okay, who wants to take this on???

Project 164
P.S. As a follow-up to our conversation thread of a few weeks back, I just
picked up a fully loaded 2002 A4 1.8TQ 5-speed the other night for the very
right price of $19K. In doing so, I pretty much skipped the entire 90's
decade of car ownership, seeing as how my 164 was built in very early 1990.
