[alfa] Re: Biba's cutting out...again
Biba,
This sounds like the old problem you had about a year ago coming back?
Intermittent problems are always the toughest to catch. If you can't reproduce
it, how can you isolate it?
It sounds like it could be a fuel problem or a spark problem. Hard to
say. Since you have carbs (unlike electronic fuel injection), it's hard to
imagine any intermittent problem other than the fuel pump cutting out.
For the Marelli, it could be just about any intermittent electrical
connection from the power supply (ie battery) through the distributor and coil.
There are a lot of connections and devices there!
I'm afraid your going to have to rig up some temporary voltmeter and put
it in the passenger compartment. Hook it up to various points in the engine
compartment and then pray the problem repeats itself. If the voltmeter is
hooked up to the fuel pump and the voltage jumps around while the car acts up...
voila. Otherwise, not. Move onto the next point.. the coil, the distributor,
etc.
(Or do you have a fuel pressure meter that will tell you what's going on.
But remember, you have to measure it while it's happening. Measuring fuel
pressure or battery voltage after the incident means absolutely nothing!)
Good Luck!
Charlie
