[alfa] RE: SPICA Fuel Pressure Problem
What kind of replacement pump did you install? If it was a Bosch supply pump
from a L-Jetronic Alfa (inlet and outlets in-line on the ends of the pump
body), you need to solder up the outlet fitting on the injection pump and
redrill it with a 1/16" drill. That should give you a good 15-18 psi at the
injection pump itself.
It's possible that it could be a heat related problem. 69's did not have the
boost pump in the tank to ensure positive feed to the supply pump. If the
fuel level was very low, the temp and pavement VERY hot it's possible that
the fuel overheated and caused the pump to cavitate but I doubt it this time
of year, and certainly not in Denver.
Do check the fuel vent system to be sure it's breathing.
