I'd have to agree here. I am now in the odd position of having driven
TWO recently purchased cars home, one was a 5-hr drive and the other was
an 8-hr drive.

I sweated out all the details, considered bringing spare parts, bought
some fuses and some general supplies for the trip, and just drove.

It's one of those clearly crazy and stupid things that I think everyone
should do at least once in their life.

I remember AlfaBill had his One Lap Of America drive a few years ago -
and I didn't get it. I do now. And having the ride be a newly purchased
car (on its "maiden voyage") just adds to the adventure.

Check it out before you go, make sure it doesn't run hot, or make any
untoward noises, bring your cell phone and AAA card, and just drive.

Why not? If you're that sensible, you wouldn't have bought this car to
begin with.

What's all this talk of hauling the Berlina back? If the Berlina
starts, drive it.

You don't need no stinkin' U-haul.

There is nothing like hauling ass in your Berlina up PCH and 101. Plus
you'll know every quirk of the car by the time you get back. It's fun,
trust me.
