Hi Benjamin,
Having your tailpipe stick straight out will lead to exhaust fumes being sucked into the low pressure zone that occurs immediately behind the tail of the car, and from there, into the cockpit, or, with the roof up, into the trunk, then into the cockpit.  Which is fine if you quite enjoy asphyxiating yourself, but...
