[alfa] re Euro cam timing with VVT
Hi Damian,
We modified my 86 Spider (originally US delivery) by replacing the exhaust cam with a 10548 and regrinding the inlet cam to 10548 specs. Other mods that were also made was to bump up the compression a bit by shaving the head and re-port the top of the inlet runners so that there is more of a radius as the inlet gases turn toward the combustion chamber. The car now has 113 hp at the rear wheels (it's also been converted to a thermatic fan) which is a big difference to the very mediocre 95 or so that the L-jet cars had as standard.
It made a huge difference to the drivability of the car as I suspect that torque has also increased in all the right spots. The guy who did the work on the head for me said that I needed to leave the VVT in place and therefore grinding the cam was the easiest thing to do.
