RE: [alfa] no spark on 83 Spider

Ed -

Check the RPM & TDC sensors in the bell housing. If either is bad, no spark.

You can check resistance fairly easily as a 'go-no-go' test. If one sensor
fails this test then replace it.

If the resistance is ok, then you will need to check them for signal output.
This is best (and most easily done) with a scope.

There is a fairly comprehensive flow chart in the repair manual for
diagnosing a no start, no spark condition that is pretty easy to follow.

Jeff

Subject: [alfa] no spark on 83 Spider

My spider has current going into the coil but when I pull the coil lead to
the distributor and check for spark, I don't get any. Battery has good
voltage (I know it has to be 10.5v). I've cleaned the contacts on the
coil. Coils don't seem to go bad often and I'm not sure what else to
check. Thanks.
