Quattroruote Zagato 4R

       Go to Google.com and search on Gran Sport Quattroruote.  Well, it used 
to work, and Google's translations were pretty funny.  I got some interesting 
articles some months ago when I tried that.
       There is a Yahoo Group for this Alfa.  Go to <A HREF="www.Groups.Yahoo.com">www.Groups.Yahoo.com</A> and 
search on "alfa4R."  The group is not active at all and I have not received a 
posting in months.
       Also search the Alfa Digest archives.  There was some discussion a few 
months ago when one showed up on eBay.
       The car on eBay did not sell.  It was bid up to $18,000 or so, but did 
not meet the reserve.  I called the seller and I seem to recall he wanted 
about $25,000.  The car was a bit cosmetically challenged.
       A good Quattroruote will be priced at $30,000 and up.  All were built 
on the Giulia spider 101 23 chassis with a 1600 two barrel Solex carb.  
According to Fusi, the serial numbers for these cars are not unique.  Apparently, 
completed spiders were pulled from the assembly line and sent to Zagato for 
conversion.  Since the cars were pulled as Zagato ordered them, the serial numbers 
are all over the range of the 101 23 spider. 
       The car is relatively slow, but fun to drive based on my phone calls 
to people who own them.  As they are light weight, conversion to Veloce specs 
makes quite a responsive, if non stock car.
