I wish we could get more information, preferably unbiased information if
such exists. As someone else pointed out Paul Spruell appears to have
committed (probably money too) to sell these cars and didn't appear to get
much, if anything. Perhaps others as well.
I really hope your right Luca, and these two were just the cause of that
joy at seeing late models Alfas here in the states. However, it is also
possible these two were attempting to take advantage of that same passion.
With more facts it would be easier to tell. Is the problem simply a matter
of technicalities and legal catch-22s killing the small businessman for a
car that is perfectly safe for the rest of the world (including north
america)? Or, have these two taken money and not delivered what they
promised?
Often, if you've done one thing wrong, the prosecutors will go over
anything and everything they can to build a list of indictments. Some of
the charges in this case may just be extra charges so they can attempt a
plea bargain, dropping a lot of them and letting them plead to lesser
charges (if any of these are lesser).
Without knowing more facts, and possibly without reading the minds of
those involved, we may never know the real truth.
