Spider erratic idling??????

Hello all,
 My 91 spider veloce idles erratic sometimes and very annoying when it does. All air, vacuum hose were replaced and while troubleshooting, I disconnected the solenoid wire (controls vacuum from the FI to the Carbon Canistor- per manual), the idle was so nice and steady. The question is, if I'm driving without electronically vacuum control from the Carbon Canistor to the FI, will I break anything in the future? I'm happy with the idle the way it is, everything is air tight except this solenoid valve sometimes screws up my idle.
