Webster has been a long-time enemy of English. He was one of the proponents, if
not the prime mover behind, the US' current position of not being able to spell
colour, humour, route, any word properly ending in -ise; as well as many other
revisions to the English language. This practice Mark Twain ably ridiculed in a
famous letter.

By those standards, his "Alpha Romero" is but a small mistake.
