First the mounts fail, then the engine sags, then the idler wears a hole through the inner fender well... then it gets a bath any time you run in the rain.I didn't have to change mine until I had 198,000 miles on it. The same way with the water pump. If these are wearing out sooner it may be that you are over tightening the belt.
