RE: Mid-life crisis
hi kim,
take him on the italian car rally in a couple weekends, sponsored by the local lambo club. poker run from criswell (chebbie)lambo to ceresville mansion yust outside of fredneck - a nice place for a picnic, & to view lotsa fine italian iron, tht's been on the drive. sounds to me like yer friend yust has a need to spend some more cash - '88 spiders are so *cheap* when compared to what he's looking at! ;~) if, after the rally, he still wants one of those *other* cars, then you'll know that, not only has he no automotive soul, he has a need to look like money, as well! ;~) jeez, if i wanted someting like a porsche speedster, i could sell my 3 alfas, my pantera, my buell & my ducati, i'd still come up short!
doug s.
ps - porsche roadsters are *not* soul-less, imo, even if not my cuppa... for that kinda green, gimme a lotus esprit twin-turbo v8! :>)

Subject: Mid-life crisis
Alright, boys and girls, I need some help. A friend of mine is going through
a quasi-mid-life crisis and is considering a more interesting addition to
his multi-minivan stable (ugh!). He has driven my '88 Spider and likes it,
but the silly bugger keeps looking at new BMW and Porsche roadsters (double
ugh!).
I am convinced that my friend, who enjoys working on cars, needs a hobby in
addition to a new car, and what better way to kill two birds with one stone?
So... I need some ideas. I have never owned either of the German monsters in
question, but I've driven my mum's Z3. It's a car. It goes fast. It handles
well. It's booooring! Further: 1) the trunk is smaller than my Spider's; 2)
I keep hitting my elbow when I shift; and 3) the seat simply will not
recline enough!
If anyone can preach intelligently (or not) on comparisons or inspiration,
I'd appreciate it. He's a really good friend, and I simply cannot, in good
conscience, allow him to buy a soulless car!
Cheers,
Kim Life
