RE: Rant, was: Chassis Stiffener
Amongst my cohorts on the "rice" side of the tracks, group buys are very
popular and successful. By bringing a number of orders to a vendor at one
time, we are able to negotiate a volume discount. The vendor gets a large
order and we get a discount, everybody wins.
I am very serious about installing a chassis stiffener in my spider. No
matter where you purchase it, the price is $469 (plus shipping and maybe
tax).
Is there enough interest to try and put together a group buy?
I believe the stiffener was originally developed by Don Ereminas (please
correct me if I'm wrong [like you won't!!]), and ideally I'd like to bring
the business to Ereminas imports. There are few enough vendors supporting
our cars, to me it is both foolish and morally objectionable to try to save
$50 by not rewarding the innovation of those that do.
I'd be happy to coordinate, but won't do anything until there seems to be
significant interest. (10 orders?)
I have created threads at www.ar-Spider.com:

If you are serious about getting a chassis stiffener and think this is a
good idea (or a bad idea) please post to one of those threads.

I agree as well. And when (if?) I get a chasis stiffener, I'd like to make
sure I support the right person or company. So, next question, where
should I look to buy one of these so that I'm not supporting the "knock
off"?
