'87 Spider fuel vapor system

Hi Group:

I had the too-rare chance to drive my '87 Spider Saturday, and when I 
removed the gas cap to fill up, there was a pressure release from the fuel 
tank.  I also noticed some fuel odor in the cockpit, when I first sat in 
the car to unlatch the top.  Surely, these two symptoms are related to the 
fuel vapor recovery system, but since this is my first non-Spica Alfa, I 
don't know where to look.  Any help out there for this Bosch-o-phobe?  TIA.
