RE: Wheel bearings (GTV6)
Question, how do the wheel bearings let it be known they need to be rebuilt?

The more elegant solution to the fine wheel bearing adjustment issue is to
use the Mercedes type wheel bearing nut. It is kind of a horse shoe shaped
nut with an allen headed set screw to lock it in
place. It allows for infinite adjustment. I don't know the model years,
found mine in the junk yard on a 240D. There are a number of folks at
GTV6.org who have switched to these and are very satisfied
with the ability to precisely adjust.. A search over there should uncover
discussion and a few pictures. Pretty much a straight replacement, some
(mine) have required very minor reshaping of the grease
cap with a ball peen for clearance, others have not needed to do that. I
suspect there are a couple of styles of grease cap out there. Anyway, I
adjust such that the washer can be moved and have had
excellent results despite extensive track time and hard (sticky tired)
street use.
