RE: synthetic oil

At some retailers, in my area Auto Zone, you can get Mobil 1 in
0w-40 which meets the newer U.S. and European specifications.
I have started using this is my wife's new VW Passat with the 1.8L
turbo engine. In my Alfas I run Mobile 1 15w-50.

A couple of points that I haven't seen mentioned:

- Mobil 1 now comes in 0 weight (e.g. 0w-30) which helps with cold starts.
- All cars have a certain amount of piston blowby.  Older cars have more

I've recently switched to 0w-30 Mobil 1 on a couple of cars that the manual
says should
use 5w-30.
