Re: Electric cooling fan for 71 Berlina

Just go to a local auto emporium's cooling section and get a generic electric fan. They will also have options for a thermostat to activate the fan. I have a Hayden on my Berlina, a 10 or 12 inch will fit. Since Berlinas have a big grill and good airflow (compared to a spider) they run cooler and a 10 inch is fine. If you don't drive in stop and go traffic, the fan will rarely turn on if the fan thermostat is set for 180-190 degrees, especially in your climate. Mount the fan in front of the radiator as a pusher. I used the generic Hayden mount kit which attaches the fan with plastic ties that run through the radiator fins, and this setup works fine. Some owners try to make this project more complicated than necessary with special mounts, radiator thermostats etc, when it can be done in an afternoon with off the shelf DIY parts.

Subject: Electric cooling fan for 71 Berlina

Sorry if this has been covered. As I am re-doing the motor in my 71
Berlina, I want to install an electric cooling fan. Can someone advise me
on the size, and any certain make, etc. that is successful and economical
and a source for getting one?

Thanks in advance.
