164 thermostat valve

it's easily accessible on the left side of the engine
and can be replaced without removing anything else.

the messy part is draining down enough coolant so
that you don't lose a lot when you remove the
thermostat, & Alfa typically doesn't provide a
drain valve anywhere.

beyond that it's just taking off the old one & putting
on the new one, though getting off the old fashioned
papercrap gasket can be annoying.

be really sure to vent the air out after refilling the
coolant using the bleed plug, it's also messy, can get
fluid all over the belts, but not getting all the air out,
when the engine is hot, can cause uneven engine cooling.

i've replaced thermostats 3 times on 2 164s, & 1 needs it again,
as it takes way too long for the car to warm up, they don't
seem to be very good quality.
