inside batteries
Millions of back-seat passengers in old VW Bugs are sitting just inches
above the battery, which is under the right rear seat, unless it's rusted
through the floor and is dragging along on the road behind the car.
In MGAs, the two six-volt batteries (connected in series) are directly
behind and beneath the seats, separated by a short plywood wall and
covered by a thin piece of sheet-metal fastened only by two Dzus
fasteners. The batteries straddle the driveshaft, are inches in front of
the rear axle, and conveniently are next to the fuel pump.
