74 Spider Tach Cable

Hi All,

I'm putting in a new Tach cable in my 74 spider and it seems that the cable
might be a bit too long.  I'm wondering if the normal practice is to cut a bit
off the squared end that goes into the sending unit on the engine.  The
problem is that the aluminum cup on the end of the plastic cable cove does not
seem to far enough in to allow the cap to screw on the fitting.
