Just a gut feeling, but spin on filters are newer technoligy and therefor I
feel they should filter better.
Also, every cannister filter I have ever owned had a questionable sealing
system inside and I'm not sure there wasn't some bypass oil around the
filter.
And, the convenience is great!!  I put a Hurlock adapter on the Duetto, and a
PH8A (Big sucker!) filter.  Works great.  (No financial affiliation,
etc-----)
