Help - radiator bypass hose

Greetings Alfisti !

I need some help.  Can someone tell me how to get the bypass restrictor 
into my new bypass hose ?  I had to cut the old hose to get it out.  It's a 
really tight fit.

Also, which way does it go in ( I forgot to note that )?  Does the 
restrictor end go on the water pump or the other way around.
