Hi Joe:

Some Koni's have a rubber bump stop on the shaft that has to be removed to 
get full compression, before the adjuster will engage.  Here are the KYB 
numbers.  Don't know if they're still current, but they are for the 
Gas-A-Just models:

KG4616 - front
KG5517 - rear

A few years ago, they were $35 each at www.shox.com.  I bought the 
Bilsteins instead @ $76 per.
